Martins Point- Irma H. Tabisz, 85, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Outer Banks Hospital, Nags Head, NC. Born in Germany, Irma resided in Queens, NY before settling in South Plainfield in 1949. In 2005 she relocated to Martin’s Point, NC. Irma was employed by Terminal Barbershops in New York, and later by Chevron chemical in South Plainfield. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield, and since 2005 of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk, NC. Betty Morella said that some people collected stamps or coins, but Irma collected people.She made a friend wherever she went, and she was noted for her wit and outgoing nature. She was an active member of the South Plainfield Senior Citizen Center Craft Group, the Ladies by the Sea Organization and Crafty Ladies of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Parish, and the Baum Center’s Watercolors Class in Kill Devil Hills. She was predeceased by her husband Peter K. Tabisz, her son Peter C. Tabisz, and her brother George Harenberg. She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Marcella J. And James Martin of Southern Shores, NC, her cherished daughter-in-law Dorma W. Tabisz of Nashville, TN, her sister Gertrude Block of Zephyrhills, Fl, and her sisters-in-law Anne Tabisz Florio of Albuquerque, NM, June Tabisz of Wheeling, IL, and Thelma Harenberg of Chincoteague, VA; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Randy) Smith, Matthew (Renee) Tabisz, Amanda Tabisz(Josh) Stevens, and Julia Martin; five great grand-children, Linda Anne Tabisz, Ryan, Reid, and Ross Smith, and Brady Stevens. Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday in the McCriskin Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a 10a.m. funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Plainfield. Entombment will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum in South Plainfield. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Plans for a local service of remembrance are pending. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Dare Home Health and Hospice P.O.
